Scott MacConachie, CPT - Lead Instructor and K9 Ponderosa Owner



Certifications

Scott MacConachie is a Certified Professional Dog Trainer. He trained at the National K-9 School for Dog Trainers in Columbus, Ohio. Scott has completed the Master Trainers Course. His certification was issued by the National K-9 School for Dog Trainers. National K-9's certification is recognized around the world. National K-9 is recognized by the "Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools." To achieve professional certification, NK9DTA members have completed one of National K-9’s intensive courses which includes a combination of, classroom instruction, hands on training experience, written testing, and extensive field evaluation under the supervision of experienced instructors (boot camp style). He is also a member of the following professional organizations: International Association of Canine Professionals and National K-9’s Graduate Association.

Scott has also work with the Columbus K9 Search and Rescue team.

Scott has a Professional Certification in the following:

Police K9, Basic and Advanced Obedience; Tracking; Personal Protection; Behavior Modification; Scent Detection; Utility; Puppy Development; Assistance dog; Retrieval and Breed Identification.

 


Biography

Scott was born in Frankfurt Germany and raised all over the world. Scott is the son of a military man which officially makes him a Army Brat. Scott has worked for 15 years in the Information Technology field. Serving in both business administration and information technology. As an avid dog fancier who has been around dogs most of his life, he fulfilled his true calling. Understanding canine personalities and behaviors, he loves the challenge of making dogs better companions.

Some of Scott’s other interests include, computers, watching and playing basketball, football, tennis, baseball, softball, golf, travel, chess, marshal arts, playing the drums, business, walks with his wife and canines, Chinese food and of course spending time with his family and friends. Most recently, during a trip to North Carolina's Outer Banks, Scott took his first hang glinding lesson and looks foward to achieving his USHGA Hang Gliding I certification.

Caroline is Scotts wife and the K9 Ponderosa Office Manager as well as a dog trainer. Caroline has an extensive background in Information Technology. She has a great love for animals and enjoys working with dogs.

Scott and Caroline own a German Shepherd named Long Long. Long Long is a Chinese name and means Baby Dragon, also he is professionally trained in English, Chinese and hand signs. He is also trained as a support dog for the handicapped. Scott considers his Assistance Dog Certification, his most valued achievement.
Scott and Caroline also own another German Shepherd named Shi Ki and a Border Collar rescue named Oreo, also very well trained.
Scott feels working with the handicapped is most rewarding.

Biography

Caroline is Scotts wife and the K9 Ponderosa Office Manager as well as a dog trainer. Caroline has an extensive background in Information Technology. She has a great love for animals and enjoys working with dogs.

She enjoys seeing dogs get educated at the K9 Ponderosa.
More importantly she likes to see the owners enjoying their dogs after they leave the K9 Ponderosa.

 


Brandy Pickens - Head Trainer



Biography

Brandy Pickens graduated from National K9 in July 2005 and has been training since then. She has always had an interest in animals. She is currently attending Columbus State seeking a degree in Veterinary Technology. She is a member of the IACP and National K9 Dog Trainers Association. Her main interests are in puppy developement, behavorial problems, and basic obedience. She volunteers at Franklin County Animal Shelter and is a dog handler for ORDA K9 Search Team. She has also handled dogs in the conformation ring. Brandy and her husband have a German Shepherd named Brock and a Panda Shepherd named Giesela.

 

 


 

Julie Voss - Assistant Trainer



Biography

Julie Voss Julie Voss grew up in San Angelo, Tx. She dedicated most of her life growing up to playing tennis and is currently playing for the Ohio State Buckeyes in her final senior year. Julie also has been involved in music her whole life playing and composing on piano, violin, and guitar. Since her 16 year tennis journey is nearing its end after this season, Julie is beginning to focus her life on her other passions. She loves all animals, especially dogs. Julie plans on attending "The National K9 Learning Center" to further her knowledge on dog training in the near future. Owning a Siberian Husky, Iris, she is drawn to all working class dogs but would love to build a trusting relationship with any dog. She volunteers at the Franklin County Dog Shelter to help walk the dogs and believes in the mental and physical benefits of exercising dogs. Julie is fascinated by dog psychology and hopes to one day be able to help any dog that crosses her path.

Originally a tree farm, the K9 Ponderosa is now the perfect escape from the city for your favorite four footed friend and you to work together in creating a more meaningful owner and K9 relationship.
